Shaping a Clean & Sustainable Future: My Role as an Energyz Black Mentor

Mentorship has always been a cause close to my heart. It is one of the most meaningful ways to share knowledge, create opportunities, and inspire the next generation of leaders. Life has been very busy lately so I didn’t manage to share this new journey sooner - but better late than never, as they say! I am pleased to share that, last month, I was selected as a mentor for the Energize Mentorship Club (EMC) '24, an initiative led by Energyz Black to support early career minority professionals in the UK’s renewable energy sector. The initiative is designed to connect experienced industry professionals with emerging Black talents, offering tailored mentorship to drive professional growth, leadership opportunity, career advancement, and greater inclusion in the energy and sustainability fields in the UK

Energyz Black’s mission to amplify voices and create pathways for emerging talent in clean energy resonates deeply with me. Their commitment to fostering diversity, inclusion, and innovation within the renewable energy industry is not just admirable—it’s essential for the sustainable future we all aim to build.

As someone who has navigated the complexities of the energy sector, I understand the value of guidance and encouragement at the start of a career. The clean energy transition needs bold ideas and empowered professionals, and I am excited to contribute to this journey by mentoring individuals who are passionate about making a difference.

The Energize Mentorship Club will support 5–10 Black professionals per cohort, equipping them with the guidance and tools necessary to excel in their careers through strategic one-on-one mentorship.

Throughout the 9-month programme (November 2024 - July 2025), I will be mentoring a promising young professional, recently graduated from university, as he embarks on his journey into the energy and sustainability industry.

I’m actually really excited about this and I’ll be sure to provide updates over the course of this journey!
